Last year, the September radio featured a track called Morningside that I came to find out was by Stuart Bogie. I ask my friend Ben to make these mixes because he's great at hunting in record shops for new music and often suggests artists or albums that I've never heard of, but that quickly become enduring favorites. That's what happened with Stuart - and I kept that album on repeat, living in it for a few months after.
When putting together exhibition two, as always, I wanted to incorporate a live performance. It was during that period of having Stuart's album in heavy rotation that I asked if he would have any interest in coming out to be part of the weekend. Lucky for us, he was excited by the idea and before long - we were sitting there getting treated to a sound check on Friday morning. This video captures the composition Stuart created special for this performance, titled '14:07' - a reference to our address at 1367 Valencia Street. I can't think of a nicer way we could have closed out the weekend than with Stuart's presence on Sunday evening as the sun set over the headlands behind him.
